Colonia is a nice small place to stop by for a few hours whilst you are waiting for your ferry to Buenos Aires or your bus to Montevideo. The best thing to do is take a lazy walk around Colonia. Forget time existed and think you’re back in the 19th century.

Stray dogs

If you thought there were plenty of stray dogs around Montevideo, think again. This place is full of them. If you give them any food, they will literally be your best friend forever. I guess this is where the saying man’s best friend came from.

Places to stay

There seem like a few places to stay in Colonia but is it worth it? A few hours here was enough for me. But I can understand if you are looking for a place to relax and chill out and get away from it all. I reckon I would have loved spending a few days here doing nothing if I had the time. Unfortunately I didn’t have the time and could only spend a few hours.

Ice cream

Great to sit in the open space, have some ice cream, then lie down and close your eyes and go to sleep. The fact that I’m talking about Ice cream shows I’ve run out of things to say about Colonia.
